Crossings & Thresholds
Made during my MA in Spatial Strategies at Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin, this publication grew out of Crossings, The Everyday, Mobilities — a project about social mobility, bodies and the spaces we move through.
What changes when we cross?
I kept coming back to a simple question: what actually changes when we cross something? A threshold can be physical or social, but in both cases it marks a shift of position. The project looks at that shift through bodies, everyday movement, images, painting and writing.
The magazine is one of the outcomes of the research, not a neutral container for it. The sequence of pages became another way of testing the ideas: putting images and texts next to each other, repeating them, interrupting them and seeing what changed.
